For those who celebrate Purim, which begins March 9th, or have family or friends who celebrate, the JFR is offering a Purim eCard.  For a donation of $18 or more, you can send the eCard to ten email addresses.  If you have any questions about the Purim eCard, please contact the JFR office at 973.736.1800. JFR EXHIBIT OPENS IN SARASOTA, FL

The JFR traveling exhibit, Whoever Saves a Single Life…Rescuers of Jews During the Holocaust opens at the Selby Public Library, Sarasota, Florida, on Monday, March 2, 2020.  If you are in the Sarasota, Florida area, please do stop by the library to view the exhibit.

On March 2, 2020, Stanlee Stahl will be speaking at the opening reception on Monday, March 2, 2020.  The reception begins at 2:30 p.m.  The exhibit will be on display at the Selby Library through April 30, 2020.  Following the opening reception, Stanlee will be conducting a teacher training program from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  If you are interested in attending the teacher training program, please contact Dr. Bernadette Bennet at [email protected].  The teacher training will also be held at the Selby Library.

The Book Smugglers Exhibition Opens at Holocaust Museum Houston on March 12, 2020

The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous is pleased to be a “Title Sponsor” for the Holocaust Museum Houston’s new exhibition, The Book Smugglers. The exhibition will open on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 6:00 pm and is based on Professor David Fishman’s book, The Book Smugglers.  Professor Fishman will be a special guest at the opening.  The exhibition will be open from March 13, 2020, through August 16, 2020. If you are in the Houston area, please do stop by the museum to view the exhibition and to see the newly reopened museum.

FOOTSTEPS OF MY FATHER & FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS OF MY FATHER

We continue to receive requests from teachers, community organizations, senior centers, and synagogues to screen the JFR’s award winning documentary “Footsteps of My Father.”  If you are interested in screening the documentary for your class, here is a link to request form.  Please, please do not email Stanlee asking for the link and a password.  We ask that you complete and submit the online link.

We have just about exhausted our supply of Poster Sets on Rescue.  We have enough complete sets for this year’s new group of Alfred Lerner Fellows and a few extras.  We do have incomplete sets and we are offering them at reduced cost.  The cost for the complete set, with shipping is $60.00.  If you are interested in purchasing an incomplete set, below is what we have left and the cost.  The cost includes the number of posters indicated and shipping.  The Teacher’s Guide for the Poster Set on Rescuer will have to be downloaded.  We also have a large number of “Integrity” posters left.  We are exploring how we can mail one poster at a reasonable cost.  Please email Stanlee at [email protected]. If you would like to order one of the complete or incomplete sets.  Posters sets must be paid for by check.

We are considering updating the Poster Set on Rescue.  If you would like to be involved with this project, please email Stanlee at [email protected]. We will keep the same traits and definition of the trait.  We will change the rescuers and we will update the Teacher’s Guide.

JFR 2020 EUROPEAN STUDY PROGRAM

The dates of the 2020 European Study Program to Germany and Poland are July 5 through July 19, 2020.  The Study Program starts in Munich and ends in Auschwitz where we spend four nights.  Professor Robert Jan van Pelt is our scholar for the program. It is possible for teachers attending the 2020 Summer Institute for Teachers to participate in the European Study Program.  Robert Jan and I are working with our European colleagues to make each of our stops as educational as possible.
