At the end of 2021, the JFR sent more than $500,000 to rescuers in 14 countries. This amount included a special Christmas gift of $2,500 for the purchase of food, for home heating fuel, and for medications. Here is a link to several thank you notes from rescuers. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to make a difference in the day-to-day lives of the rescuers.
We thank you and the rescuers thank you!
The JFR Board of Trustees at its last meeting voted to increase monthly award levels for JFR-supported rescuers. Each rescuer will receive an additional $50 each month, bringing their monthly awards to $250. We estimate that we will expend almost $1 million in direct support of Righteous Gentiles during 2022. As the rescuers age, their needs become more acute. The JFR is working hard to meet these needs. Click here for more information about the JFR’s Rescuer Support Program.
As we welcome a new year, we thought it appropriate to take some time to provide information on how our rescuer support program works. Many of our donors have asked when and how we send our funds to rescuers.

The JFR has worked with Western Union for more than 28 years. They have been a wonderful partner and we are so appreciative of their help and support. We thank Western Union for their assistance in helping the JFR send its funds safely and efficiently to the rescuers.
We are looking forward to welcoming 23 Alfred Lerner Fellows to the 2022 Advanced Seminar to be held January 15 and 16, 2022. At the end of December 2021, we made the decision to switch the program to Zoom. The scholars presenting are: Professor Lawrence Douglas, Professor Avinoam Patt, Professor Edward Westermann, and Dr. Robert Williams.
We hope you have been checking out our featured educators from across the country. Several months ago, the JFR began featuring Alfred Lerner Fellows in a new series called “Fellows in Focus.” Each Wednesday we highlight an outstanding educator! Please check out the JFR’s Facebook page on Wednesday to learn about a terrific teacher. Teachers who attend the JFR’s Summer Institute for Teachers are known as Alfred Lerner Fellows.
In January we are featuring:
Rachel Povlacs from Dothan, AL, January 5
Shana Stein from Montclair, NJ, January 12
Margaret Berry from Aurora, IL, January 19
Branda Anderson from Woodinville, WA, January 26

The JFR is pleased to be part of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) this year. The CFC is the Federal government’s workplace charity campaign and covers all civilian, postal, and military employees. The CFC’s campaign season ends January 15, 2022. If you know of someone who works for the Federal government, the U.S. military, or the U.S. Postal Service, please ask them to consider selecting the JFR as the recipient of their gift. The JFR’s CFC number is 10744.
