This is our last e-newsletter from the 19th Floor!

This is our last e-newsletter from the 19th Floor!  However, based on feedback from folks we are going to keep the name, even though we will be on the 3rd Floor in New Jersey.

Since we are moving Friday, June 29, the day after our Summer Institute for Teachers ends, and I am leaving for Germany on July 6 for our European Study Program, this is going to be a shorter newsletter and I hope you all understand.

Following the Footsteps to Open in New York City – June 8 to 14, 2018!

The JFR produced documentary, Footsteps of My Father, featuring the story of Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds, an American GI who save the lives of 200 American Jewish GIs when they were captured in the Battle of the Bulge, will show once a day at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village, 323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd Street, New York City, starting Friday, June 8 through Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 12:20 pm.

If you are interested in attending one of the shows, either call the IFC Center at 212.924-7771 or check the IFC Center website at www.ifccenter.com.

The JFR has rented the small theatre which has 35 seats.  It is recommended that tickets be purchased online at www.ifccenter.com for the showing you want.  The running time of the documentary is 38 minutes.

On Friday, June 8, 2018, after the showing, there will be a short Q & A session with Director Paul Allman and Producer Stanlee Stahl.  Tickets are $15 and $11 for senior citizens.

For those who are in the area, please consider attending one of the showings.  We would like to have your feedback. Also, if you plan on joining us on Friday, June 8, please let me know at [email protected] and do purchase your tickets in advance.

Layla and Julia

JFR 2018 College Interns

We are delighted to have two outstanding college interns at the JFR this summer.

Layla Essaily and Julia Caruso. Both Layla and Julia are rising juniors. Layla is at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and Julia is at Miami University, Oxford, OH. Both are honor students at their respective schools and both have 3.8 GPAs! Two very bright and talented young women!

Layla has worked at the JFR since her junior year in high school and lives in Brooklyn. Julia is active in Hillel at Miami and is from Dayton, OH. We are pleased to have Layla and Julia with us this summer. And both will be making a reverse commute when we move to NJ!

Making our Move Possible!

The JFR has been in our current space for the past 20 years.  Our new space in New Jersey is significantly smaller and does not have the view!  We are going through more than 20 years of files.  Leisa Herrera joined our staff last month in a temporary capacity.  Leisa is assisting the JFR to move to a paperless, or almost paperless office.  She is heading up our scanning project and is simply amazing!
