On June 22 we will welcome 22 middle and high school teachers and Holocaust center staff to the JFR’s 24th Summer Institute for Teachers (SIT). The program will be held at the Hilton Newark Airport and runs through Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Twelve leading Holocaust scholars will present at the program. The text for the SIT is How Was it Possible? A Holocaust Reader by Professor Peter Hayes.
The JFR will be announcing its new online program in the next several months. We have been working with a number of Lerner Fellows these past two years and we thank them for their participation. Information on this innovative and exciting program will be announced this summer. If you have questions about the program, please email [email protected].
I would like to thank Dr. Yoram Bitton for inviting me to speak and present JFR’s documentary, “Footsteps of My Father” at the Library of Congress last month. It was an excellent program.
Each spring the JFR requests all supported rescuers to submit proof of life documentation to our office. This insures that we have up to date information on the rescuers we support. These documents are due in our office by July 1, 2024. Rescuers have begun sending us their documents and have included photographs. We thought we would share some of these photographs with you.
We mourn the passing of Alla Yespienko a Righteous Gentile from Ukraine. Alla lived in the Zaporizhzhia region. She died on May 5, 2024, at the age of 94. May her memory be a blessing.
