The JFR’s 2021 Haggadah Supplement recounts the story of the Veseli family, a Muslim family from Kruja, Albania. The Veseli family saved two Jewish families during the Holocaust. The supplement is available on our website by clicking here. We hope you find this year’s Haggadah supplement a welcome addition to your Seder.
The JFR mourns the passing of Anna Korchak from Vinnitsa, Ukraine. Anna turned 96 on February 8, 2021. The JFR began providing financial support to Anna in May 1998. To the right is a note from her grandson, Maxim.
May Anna’s memory be a blessing.
A BIG thank you to our donors who have taken the time to raise money through Facebook fundraisers! It is so appreciated!
If you have a birthday or other special occasion coming up, consider creating a Facebook fundraiser for The Jewish Foundation for the Foundation. It is a meaningful way to help spread the word about the JFR, to support the JFR, and to celebrate you!
Consider setting up a monthly recurring credit card donation to The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous. Recurring donations help the Foundation to better plan for its future and to continue to provide financial support to aged and needy Christian and Muslim rescuers who need our help and to provide Holocaust teacher education.
Once you sign up for a monthly recurring donation, your credit card will be charged, in the amount you have chosen, on the first (or closest business day after the first – excluding Jewish holidays) of each month. Click here to set up a monthly recurring donation now – make sure to check the box for recurring donation.
The 2021 Summer Institute for Teachers (SIT) is set and will be held on Zoom. The dates for the program are Sunday and Monday, June 27 and 28 and Wednesday and Thursday, June 30 and July 1, 2021. Our scholars have accepted and our Alfred Lerner Fellows are set. How Was It Possible? A Holocaust Reader by Peter Hayes, the text for the program, was sent to everyone last July.
In redesigning the 2021 SIT program, we reached out to fourteen Lerner Fellows from previous years. They reviewed our program design for 2021 and based on their feedback significant changes in the program were made. I would like to thank these Lerner Fellows for their time and advice.
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous offers a set of classroom posters on the rescue of Jews by non-Jews during the Holocaust. This set conveys a crucial message: that the Righteous are not just heroes from the past, but also role models for the present. The posters underscore this idea by linking individual rescuers to character traits exemplified in their stories – traits that are well-known and within reach to young people. The JFR poster set on rescue is being used in classrooms and Holocaust centers across the country and abroad. The poster set has been published in Croatian and Polish and is being used in secondary schools in both countries. We are pleased to offer this unique educational resource.
We have just about exhausted our supply of Poster Sets on Rescue. We have enough complete sets for this year’s Alfred Lerner Fellows and a few extras. We have some incomplete sets and we are offering them at reduced cost. The cost for the complete set, with shipping is $60.00. If you are interested in purchasing an incomplete set, below is what we have left and the cost. The cost includes the number of posters indicated and shipping. The Teacher’s Guide for the Poster Set on Rescue will have to be downloaded. For more information on the Poster Sets on Rescue, please click here.
Please email Stanlee at [email protected] if you would like to order one of the complete or incomplete sets or if you have questions about the Poster Set on Rescue.
