GIVING TUESDAY

Mark your calendar! Giving Tuesday is Tuesday, November 28, 2023.

As we give thanks this year, let us remember to thank and take care of the men and women who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust – non-Jews who refused to be passive in the face of the evil they witnessed. Now elderly and in financial need, help us to make their Christmas holiday a little brighter. Each November and December the JFR raises funds to send a special award to our rescuers for the purchase of food at Christmas. Our goal this year is $25,000 – help us reach this goal. Please consider making a gift of $36.00 or more. Click here to donate now.

Kazimierz Kalwinski, Poland

WE MOURN THE PASSING OF KAZIMIERZ KALWINSKI

Kazimierz Kalwinski, a Righteous Gentile from Poland, passed away on October 13, 2023, at the age of 96.  Kazimierz was recognized by Yad Vashem in 1988.  During the war, Kazimierz, his parents Katarzyna and Wojciech, and three younger siblings, lived outside of Lwow, then Poland, now Ukraine.  The family hid twenty-four Jews in an earthen bunker under their stable.  Kazimierz often slept in the stable to guard the entrance to the bunker where the Jews were hiding.  They all survived the war.  After the war, the Kalwinski family moved to an area within the new borders of Poland.
