The JFR sent each JFR-supported rescuer a special award of $3,000 for the Christmas holiday. This is the largest, individual Christmas holiday award the JFR has sent to rescuers. The JFR sent more than $350,000 in Christmas awards to rescuers this year. Our JFR Christmas gifts are used by the rescuers for food, home heating fuel, and medicine. Funds were sent the first week of December. We want to thank you for your generous support of the work of the JFR and for helping to make the lives of the rescuers so much better and brighter!

In addition to special awards for Christmas, the JFR also meets emergency needs of the rescuers. In November, the JFR provided funds to Volodimir Chornovol for the purchase of a wheelchair.
We received the following email from Volodimir’s children:
We received the wheelchair yesterday. Father and our family are so very grateful to you.
Once again, thank you very much!

The JFR sends its award by Western Union to all rescuers, except those living in the United States and Poland. The rescuer in the U.S. receives a bank check and rescuers in Poland, have their awards deposited directly into their bank account.
The JFR has worked with Western Union for more than 28 years. They have been a wonderful partner and we are so appreciative of their help and support. We thank Western Union for their assistance in helping the JFR send its funds safely and efficiently to the rescuers.
This year, GivingTuesday was November 29th. To those who participated – thank you! As we wrote above, special awards were sent to each rescuer for the 2022 Christmas holiday.
The 2023 Advanced Seminar is closed! I would like to thank everyone who will be joining us in January 2023. As of today, the 2023 Advanced Seminar will be held in person at the Hilton Newark Airport.
Professor Jeffrey Veidlinger, one of the scholars presenting at the 2023 Advanced Seminar, will lecture on “The 1918-1921 Pogroms in Ukraine and the Onset of the Holocaust.”
The JFR is establishing a new program, “Meet our Holocaust Educators.” This program will feature an Alfred Lerner Fellow stating why they teach the Holocaust along with their photo. This information will be shared with JFR donors and friends in our monthly “At the JFR” eNewsletter, in the JFR’s monthly “Alfred Lerner Fellows” eNewsletter, and on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages. If you are interested in participating, please let Stanlee know at [email protected]. You can also send your thoughts along with a photo to Stanlee. Your statement should be around 250 words. It is important that the public learn about outstanding Holocaust educators and the need for Holocaust education.
Joslyn “Mandy” Corbett from Florida and Amy McDonald from Alabama are the first two Holocaust educators to be featured. We will share their statements in the January “Alfred Lerner Fellows” eNewsletter.
For a donation of $18.00 or more, you can send the JFR Hanukkah eCard to 15 email recipients. A JFR eCard is a great way to send Hanukkah wishes to friends and family while at the same time supporting the work of the JFR.
As you do your holiday shopping, if you place orders through Amazon, please consider ordering through AmazonSmile and indicate the JFR as your charity. The JFR receives a small portion of the proceeds from every sale made through AmazonSmile when you specify the JFR as your charity.
