As working remotely becomes the new normal for most of us, consider making use of the JFR website. Our rescuer section contains more than 175 individual stories of rescue, which can be found by clicking here. Our documentary section contains award-winning documentaries of rescue stories. You can view the documentaries by clicking here. The documentaries are short, between 11 and 15 minutes.
Also in this section is the documentary on JFR board president, Roman Kent, who will turn 95 in April. For those who may be planning an online Yom HaShoah program, you might want to screen “A Survivor’s Journey: The Life of Roman Kent.”
If you have questions or if you need assistance, Stanlee Stahl, JFR Executive Vice President, is available to work with you. You can reach her by email at [email protected].
The JFR’s 2020 Haggadah Supplement features Greek rescuer, Melpomeni Gianopoulou. The supplement is available on our website by clicking here. Melpomeni was honored at the JFR’s 2019 annual event. Here is a link to the documentary the JFR produced featuring Melpomeni’s rescue story.
Before the JFR office closed, awards were sent to all JFR supported Righteous living in 18 countries. The awards were sent so the rescuers would have funds for food for Easter and for medicine. Most of the rescuers live in countries that have instituted quarantines. We have received emails from the rescuers thanking the JFR for sending them funds during this period and wishing us well. Please click here to read the notes from the rescuers.
Due to the current situation, the 2020 Summer Institute for Teachers and European Study Program have been cancelled. We look forward to welcoming our 2020 Alfred Lerner Fellows in June of 2021.
Professor Robert Jan van Pelt, our scholar for the European Study Program, is looking forward to seeing everyone in Munich, Germany in July 2021.
