The JFR will be holding its annual dinner on Monday, December 3, 2018, at The New York Public Library, in Manhattan. The focus of the dinner will be a special screening of the JFR’s award winning documentary, Footsteps of My Father. Several of the Jewish POWs saved by Master Sgt. Roddie Edmonds will be at the dinner as will the granddaughters of Roddie Edmonds.

The 2018 Robert I. Goldman Award for Excellence in Holocaust Education will be presented to Maureen Carter (2004 Lerner Fellow). Maureen is the K-12 Holocaust Education Program Planner, Teaching and Learning Coordinator for the Palm Beach County School District, Florida. Maureen’s Center of Excellence is inSight Through Education, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The award will be presented to Maureen at the 2018 JFR Dinner in New York City, on December 3, 2018.

On October 25-27, 2018, the JFR co-sponsored a major teacher education program with the U.S. Embassy and POLIN, Museum of the History of Polish Jews. The three-day program, “How to talk about the Righteous?” was the theme of the conference. Stanlee gave the keynote presentation on Friday, October 26 on how we teach to the rescue of Jews during the Holocaust in the United States. More than 350 teachers from across Poland attended the conference. The conference was opened by a number of dignitaries including, US Ambassador Georgette Mosbacher and Israeli Ambassador Anna Azari. It was great seeing and reconnecting with so many of our Polish Lerner Fellows!
While in Warsaw, Poland, Stanlee Stahl met with the staff of the Witold Pilecki Institute of Solidarity and Valor. Stanlee was invited to address the staff of the Institute on the work of The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous.
