THE JFR MOURNS THE PASSING OF MIRA GUTFILEN
The JFR mourns the loss of Holocaust survivor Mira Wexler Gutfilen on August 11, 2021, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the Holocaust, Mira and her mother were saved by the Weglowski family. In 2014, the JFR reunited Mira with Helena Weglowska and produced a documentary, “The House of Two Families,” about their story. Mira and Helena had not seen each other since 1945. Mira was a very special lady and will be missed by many. Click here to view the documentary. May Mira’s memory be a blessing.

FELLOWS IN FOCUS
We hope you have been checking out our featured educators from across the country. Several months ago, the JFR began featuring Alfred Lerner Fellows in a new series called “Fellows in Focus.” Each week we highlight an outstanding educator! Please check out the JFR’s Facebook page to learn about a terrific teacher. Normally we feature our outstanding teachers on Wednesdays. Due to the Jewish High Holidays, some Lerner Fellows will be featured on Wednesdays and some on Thursdays. Please see the dates below.
Teachers who attend the JFR’s Summer Institute for Teachers are known as Alfred Lerner Fellows.
